VARIOUS roads are set to shut in Colchester to facilitate the return of a popular running race.

The Colchester Rotary Charity 10k Race is back this Sunday, May 12.

As a result, a rolling roadblock will be in place.

The rolling roadblock and crossing points are as follows.

Circular Road North is the race start from a point approximately 136 metres south west from the junction with Stable Road west to its junction with Circular Road West.

Circular Road West from its junction with Circular Road North and Circular Road West in a northerly direction to its junction with B1026/Butt Road.

B1026 Butt Road From its junction with Circular Road West in a south westerly direction to its junction with B1026/Drury Road, Goojerat Road (Roundabout).

B1026 Drury Road from its junction with B1026/ Butt Road, Goojerat Road (Roundabout) in a westerly direction to its junction with B1026/ Layer Road.

B1026 Layer Road From its junction with B1026/Drury Road in a south westerly direction to its junction with Boadicea Way.

Berechurch Road – Crossing point from a point about 51 metres north of the central line of the junction of Earlswood Way.

Roman Way – Crossing point at its junction with Berechurch Hall Road.

Hooper Avenue – Crossing point at its junction with Berechurch Hall Road.

Hooper Avenue/William Harris Way – Crossing point at the junction of Hooper Avenue/William Harris Way at a point about 116 metres west of its junction with John Mace Road.

Berechurch Road/Chariot Drive – Crossing point from a point about 11.5 metres south of the centre line of the Chariot Drive junction north west for approximately 14.5 metres.

Ypres Road from its junction with the footpath (beside the western boundary of Foxburrow Grange) in a northerly direction to its junction with Circular Road South.

Circular Road South – Crossing point about 20 metres east of the centre line of the junction of Ypres Road in a northerly direction.

The closure is a rolling road closure with Marshalled crossing points scheduled to commence on May 12 between 10.15am and 10.45am.

Elsewhere in Colchester, a lengthy road closure is coming to Haye Lane in Fingringhoe.

The road is set to close for 33 days on May 20 while water main replacement works are undertaken by Anglian Water.

Two roads are also set for five-day closures in the coming weeks.

Firstly, Holly Lane in Great Horkesley will shut on June 3, from its junction with Boxted Church Road for a distance of approximately 150m in a south easterly direction.

The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new service works are undertaken by T4 Intelligent Infrastructure.

Then, three days later on June 6, Pudding Lane in Birch will shut from its junction with Birch Street to its junction with Garlands Road.

This closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while new surface cover installation works are undertaken by Essex County Council.

There are other lengthy closures coming across north and mid Essex drivers should be aware of.

In Little Clacton, Holland Road will shut from its junction with Tan Lane for a distance of approximately 490m in a westerly direction and then from its junction with Tan Lane to its junction with Thorpe Road a distance of approximately 115m.

The closures are scheduled to commence on May 20 for 124 days while foul water main works are undertaken by DA Cant Ltd.

In Clacton, London Road will close from the junctions with St Johns Roundabout for a distance of approximately 170m in a northerly direction.

The closure is scheduled to commence on June 3 for 26 days while main replacement works are undertaken by Cadent.
